As a songwriting husband and wife team, Peter and Joan Martin (aka Phoenix J) have written many songs together, some forming the basis of PJ's first two solo albums. Generally speaking Peter is the wordsmith, while Joan composes. However, as Peter is more a "poet", Joan finds herself often tweaking a word or two here and there to hone the lyrics to suit the needs of the singer.

This song was actually written by them as far back as 1999, but it seems a complementary release for this album, as PJ seeks to flex and spread her musical wings further.

As the door to that birdcage swings gently on its hinges, the Phoenix is again soaring out and up to explore new and exciting directions.
